Having The Talk

Having hard conversations is definitely something I really dread. I know there are people who thrive on confrontation. I am not one of those people. I do, however, have this deep longing to be honest with people, and that means taking what is deep within me and touching the places that are deep within them. It means tapping into that power that only God can give and just being Him to them.

Friend, enabling your friends is one of the most deceptive tricks of the enemy. He would have you believe that you’ll destroy your relationships if you don’t play along, or if you say anything contrary to what they would want to hear. We utter the most dangerous words ever when we encourage our friends to just “Follow your heart”. Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?”

So you see, saying what our friends want to hear can be worse than the most dreaded confrontational conversation! Wouldn’t you pull your friend out of the street of an oncoming car to avoid death? That conversation you’ve been avoiding…have it! Love your relationships to the place where they will soar on the wings of eagles instead of plunging to their death.
