Weary

Sometimes life just feels weary and hard. From every side we get it. Opinions, agendas, hurt, illness, competitiveness, jealousy, out for #1, conflict, bad news…the space the bad takes up in my mind and heart is oftentimes overwhelming. I just want to crawl in a hole and hide away until the yucky stuff of life passes. The enemy loves to come at us with “stuff”. What is going to divide us? Each other! I’m tired of the bad I mentioned above, but I’m even more weary of Christ-followers who simply can’t get along, cannot be for one another, get so upset over petty stuff that they hop over to another church because certainly it will be better over there, allow competitiveness and envy to supersede the Gospel being their message and ultimately Christ-followers who root themselves so deep in the flesh that distinguishing them from everyone else is like finding a needle in a haystack. It’s simply weary when the enemy is our real foe that instead, we find ourselves walking on eggshells around our teammates, our people, our tribe…the ones with whom we link arms every Sunday to face the world together, with whom we share a common goal – to reach a lost world. Instead we’ve become the poster children for the lost – not lost from the salvation in Jesus – but lost in the mission. The problem and the result have become the same. The same weary that causes us to lose heart is the same weary we end up living in. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9 ESV.

We simply cannot forget our war is not against one another. The Gospel and our mission together IS our good. The reward is lives changed forever through the Gospel! What has been tripping you up lately…causing you to grow weary? Determine today that while the enemy may seek to kill and destroy, you have the VICTOR on your side. Remember who wages war with you, and move ahead together instead of apart, all for His glory!
